First card - Ponder

My very first alter. It took about 2 hours. I started out with some $1.19 paint from Michaels. I got red, yellow, green, blue, white, and black. I also got brushes. I think I have a 4 and a 5/0. I mostly just used the big one for getting the border done, and the small one for almost all detail work. As soon as I started I realized that the hardest thing was definitely going to be color matching. That's why I chose this one, because I could easily start with black and gradient into the dark blues. I then found that you can make the transition easier by blending your color in with the actual color. I'm going to have to do quite a few before I get it down well, but it was a good first attempt. Another important thing I found was that I need to use more water. I found that for the most part I could actually see my brush strokes which, from reading, is a no-no. I think getting a small dropper would be a good addition so I can keep a fairly consistent measure of paint to water ratio. I also forgot to get toothpicks and I now realize those are useful for more than just removing mistakes, but also for getting some fine detail work, if necessary. Also, unless going from a stark color change, like light to dark, or dark to light, there's no need to prime the surface. Edges can be tackled with a steady hand.
It's not complete just yet. After I was done with it I found some things that I would like to change, so I'll post the results to those later.
